Hyper Dev Roadmap for 2021

Hyper Dev Roadmap for 2021

Hi there aspiring whale vetrinarians. Hyperspace Harvest now got a dev roadmap, outlining plans for the game in 2021. Note that this is all very broad and subject to change, if you want to see what I’m actually working on in detail you can always check the dev board. There is also a thread where I’ll update the roadmap as I go along.

The feedback from the pre-alpha has all been very helpful so far. From what I can tell, the game’s biggest problems right now revolve around new player experience and farming goals. The former I’ll try to addressed through a more thorough tutorial section, but the later is giving me headaches since the start. To me it just feels like genre-typical farming games need years of work till you even get close to a critical mass of individual system and content that make up the meat (vegetables?) of the game. Hyperspace Harvest isn’t there yet and it’ll take at least till the summer update to get a bit closer. For starters I want to add small and medium scale farming goals in the form of quests or something similar. The seasons will then add some long term planning to the mix. Overall it just feels like the farming section needs more stuff to do in order to be viable, more crops, more overworld, more interactions. Or maybe it doesn’t, I’m still not sure I really understand what makes this genre tick. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe I should have stuck to games where you just blow shit up, but I’m here now and I’ll see it through.

How the updates in the roadmap will go public is still undecided. Continuing as a pre-alpha, using the new Steam playtest system, a Steam game festival demo, early access,- that's all under consideration right now. I’ll decide that once the birth update is done. Which I’ll get back to now, cheers!
